In the recent heavy rains several leaks appeared in the elementary school roof. School Superintendent Dr. Robert Chappell says the worst is in the cafeteria, in a part of the roof dating to 1996. Other leaks appeared in areas from 1993, and some, lesser leaks in roof work just completed. Chappell informed the School Board Tuesday evening that the current roof contractor, the Lantz Construction Company of Winchester Virginia, has denied responsibility, because they did not work on that part of the roof. The roof area in question is under warranty, and Chappell has called them and says he "experts them to come and say it's because of folks tramping around on the roof. “ There may be some discussion' over who is responsible, but we are going to get this repaired. Another small portion is in a part of the roof worked on in '93, and the third company involved with that work will be contacted shortly. Chappell noted all parts of the roof are under one warranty or another.
