Marion Elizabeth (Yund) Simpson, 85, of Sperryville, died Wednesday, October 5, after a long illness.
Mrs. Simpson was bom in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Elmer W. Yund and Sarah Fogel,
She was reared in Pittsburgh, PA. A graduate of Muskingum College in New Concord, OH, she taught school in Ohio and Pennsylvania for fourteen years. She married Allan R. Simpson, Jr. in 1942 at Fort McClellan, AL. She served as a tour guide at the U.S. Capitol for Congressman Ralph Regula of Ohio from 1980-1985 before retiring to Rappahannock, Virginia.
Mrs. Simpson had been a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Canton, Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA and was an active member of F.T. Baptist Church near Sperryville at the time of her death. A former chairman of the Woman’s Missionary Union of the church, she also had been a volunteer with the Rappahannock literacy program.
She is survived by her husband, Allan R. Simpson, Jr. and two sons, Allan Bruce Simpson of Mukilteo, WA and Scott Simpson of Edmonds, WA; a daughter, April Marie Heddleston of Sperryville.
