As a matter of fact, the regulations have a special section called "General Crossbow Safety Tips". They are very informative and should be read by all hunters.
Here are three of the suggested tips.
• They recommend that you cock your crossbow on the ground verses attempting to cock it in the treestand.
• Always use a haul line to raise and lower items from the stand unloaded.
• Manufacturers recommend that you go to the bottom of your stand to cock your crossbow between shots.
