With all this in mind, On the Porch” was finally bom.

The small shop will cater to those seeking antiques and fine gifts, such as scarves and glassware.

The opening has been a slow one, and the inventory still has not reached its full potential. Currently, the majority of stock is of the small antiques variety. Breeden has hand-picked each of these items, and put love and care into cleaning and refurbishing each so that they show their true worth. And as time goes on the handicrafts and photography that are truly the core of what “On the Porch” hopes to offer will abound.

While the store may lack in inventoiy at the moment, the shop space itself is inviting and you can't beat the friendly greeting you'll receive when you visit.

Breeden wanted to work in Rappahannock County since she was a child. She knew that job opportunities were scarce around here, so she decided to create her own.

She loved going to flea markets and auctions.

“The rush of getting a good deal on something you really want is like no other experience,” said Breeden.

“It's been a long road to get where I am today. There have been a lot of doubts, sleepless nights, and tears shed over this business. I know that I wouldnt have been able to get through it without the help of my family and friends. My mother especially, who has always had words of encouragement when I was feeling low, I will always be thankful to her for that.”

Whether you're a resident or just passing through the area, gather your friends and stop in this new shop in Sperryville. You will feel right at home. Even Maggie will greet you at the door.

“On the Porch” is open Thursday from 10 a m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
