escapees are a highlight, thanks to Cohen’s wit and quirky accent. There is also an adorable baby lemur named Mort, voiced by Andy Richter. Mort is bound to be a favorite of younger kids, as are the penguins.
The animation is visually stunning md the characters endearing. Directors Eric Darnell and Tbm McGrath give a modem twist on the Bugs and Dalfy cartoons of Ttex Avery and Chuck Jones and come up with the zippiest comedy DreamWorks has produced to date.
“Madagascar” is rated PG for cartoon violence, some humor centered on excretory functions, a bit of mild vulgar language and thematic material related to the fact that animals eat one another. Rim time is 86 minutes.
