Program in a variety of semistaged arias and ensembles from ‘ favorite operas and operettas.
Now in its fourth season, the Young Artist Program is overseen by Pldcido Domingo, general director of the National Opera. This unique course guides young singers, coach/ accompanists, conductors, 'and stage directors on the verge of international careers. It provides intensive study with renowned voice and drama coaches, offers voice and language lessons, and even training in yoga and nutrition. Participants have the opportunity to perform and cover roles on the main stage of the Washington National Opera, as well as concertizing in venues ranging from the White House to embassies, schools, and military bases. In response to one of their performances The Washington Post declared that it “had a quality nearly equal to (and in some places better than) the main stage performances of this production”. Graduates of the Program have gone on to successful careers in ipajor opera companies around the world.
