When Chris Hetzer and his friend Mark Harper went hunting in the Boston area Friday morning, they met up with some large company, a big black bear. Harper killed the bear with a crossbow and had to use a four wheeler to get the animal to the road. There, Harper and some friends loaded the bear into a truck and headed for Culpeper and to the County Farm Service, where the bear was weighed, tipping the scales at 540 pounds.

Harper’s plans are to have a taxidermist preserve the bear, and it sure will be something to see, a memory in years to come. Boston remains on the map!

Condolences are extended to the family of Mr. Fred Busewell, a former resident of our area who passed away at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community on Thursday.
