Luckily that isn’t the case here and the department will supply the gear, pager and training for those willing to step forward and “become heroes”.
I know it sounds a little funny referring to the local volunteer firemen as heroes but if you’ll stop and think about it, they sire exactly that. These men and women will rush to a fire or accident whenever they are able (remember, they’re volunteers which means they have other jobs and their families) and they will risk their lives to save yours. You may disregard their risk, but how many of you would be willing go into a house that’s on fire with only a 30 minutes (if your lucky) supply of air to save a person you don’t even know?
As is always the case in volunteer departments, they are looking for new members
