If recent statewide elections are any guide, vve might expect a turnout of around 55 percent here, with similar numbers in Shenandoah and Rockingham county and a bit lower turnout - maybe mid 40’s- Over in Page County. Turnout here tends to be a good ten percent higher than the statewide average.
Rappahannock has a strong tendency to go Republican. In fact, over the last ten years, only once has a Democrat won in Rappahannock County. There is a strong Democratic contingent compared to surrounding counties to the west and south, and when the Republican is not running unopposed, a Democrat can bank on at least 40 percent of the vote.
