Arlene Frye’s

service to children

Dear Rappahannock Families,

It is with great sadness and tremendous gratitude that I write to tell you of Arlene Frye’s retirement from our InfantToddler program. After twenty-five years of nurturing our youngest children at the Child Care & Learning Center, Arlene has decided that October 31st will be her last day. She is busy settling into her new home in Culpeper, and anxious to spend her time sewing, reading, and gardening. My personal connection with Arlene goes back to her early years at what was then called “Sursum Corda,” when she was rocking my oldest daughter, who now has two children of her own! Arlene has played a major role in the lives of all three of my children, and has been a tremendous support .to me in my 17 years here as Director. Personally and professionally, I will miss having her in our building.

The Board of CCLC will be recognizing her service to our children as the Guest of Honor at the CCLC Auction on November 12th. We are also dedicating our 29th Annual CCLC Children’s Christmas Program as a special tribute to Arlene on December 15th at 5:45 at the Washington School. We will be inviting parents in the audience who have had children in Arlene’s care to stand up at both of these public functions as a visual display of the number of lives she has touched here in Rappahannock.

We know that there are many parents in the community who want to thank Arlene for being a part of their children’s lives. Natasha White is organizing a party hosted by the current and past parents that will take place in the latter part of November at the Washington School. She will be sending out information about the exact time and date later. If you have questions or would like to help her with the “Parent Party for
