Nope. It is not over yet.
Contrary to what some erroneously printed calendars might show, and what some voters might have hoped for, the election was not the day after Halloween, the first Tuesday in November.
According to the state constitution, general elections are held the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, which means you have another week’s worth of political hoopla to withstand.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. next Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Virginians will be casting votes for a new governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and their local delegate to the state House.
Fairfax County residents also will be asked to vote on a $246 million school bond referendum.
This year, more than 610,000 county residents are eligible to vote. Fairfax County accounts for one in seven voters statewide and is the only locality in Virginia that has voted for the winner of every gubernatorial contest for the past century, according to local officials.
