RCHS Drama Class presents “Machinal” in VHSL Competition
On Monday, October 31, 2005, the RCHS Drama department traveled to Madison County High School to perform for the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Drama Competition. The Panther Thespians performed the one-act play “Machinal” by Sophie Treadwell. Panther actress Laura Wheatley received a 2nd place BR District medal for her great lead performance.
Members of the cast: Hannah Besecker, Colleen Daly, Emma Dodd-Henze, James Henze, Julia Hutfils, Elena Kritter, Amber Long, Erick Montague, Katie Nelson, Aaron Oyster, Rebecca Oyster, Evelyn Ruppricht, Samantha Schwar, Devin Sherwood, Jim Silvey, Robert Swann, Laura Wheatly. Technical Crew: Mike Weaver. Set Construction: Bob Pearson, Billy Joe Moore, Rebecca Oyster, Mr. Schlosser’s Building Trades Class, Chef Arthur’s Culinary Department. Costume Design: Katie Nelson, Ms. Hope, and Cast. Directed and Designed by: Miranda Hope. Those of us who saw the performance felt it was awesome, and that RCHS should have qualified for Region B competition. However, the judges selected two other performances to go to regionals. Miranda Hope did earn the BR District "Director of the Year” award. The RCHS Drama department will present this play to the public in January.
