improve

The standings may not show it, but with each passing game, the Rappahannock County High School varsity girls soccer team enjoys some improvement.
“We have been making frequent changes to the lineup in order to find the best fit for new and young players,” Rappahannock head coach Jared Nieters said. “We start three players who have never played soccer.”
The Lady Panthers are winless in nine tries, losing most recently to George Mason, 7-0, and Notre Dame Academy, 5-0.
“We are still working on our first man defense,” Nieters said. “We are working on our aggressiveness with various drills at practice.”
Still, Nieters has been impressed with the play of several players, including Alicia Vanegas, who anchors the Rappahannock defense, and sophomore Ashley Vest, who is a first-year player, but “is starting and has really shown a natural instinct for the game.”
The Lady Panthers will travel Friday night to Clarke County.
