Additional survivors include five grandchildren: Jennifer Renee Bywaters, Ian Preston-Reid Thompson, Brandon Allen Walters, Dorie Ann Walters, and Avery Alexandra Smith, two brothers, Norman E. Walters, Sr. of Winchester, and Clarence L. Walters of Front Royal; one sister, Mertie L. Sheets of Stephens City; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Lewis Henry “Woody” Walters, and son-inlaw Gary Allen Thompson.
Although Mr. Walters was best known as a farmer, he was truly a jack-of-all-trades. Some of these trades included master carpenter, mechanic, and logger.
He will always be remembered as a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. In his community and his family he will always be known as a man of giving. He gave of himself and his strengths to anyone that was in need of a helping hand, especially those who were less fortunate.
A memorial service for this extraordinary man was held on Saturday, April 15 at the Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal, with Pastor Larry Andrews and Pastor Randy Hayes officiating. A reception celebrating his life was held at Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 75 Cedar Park Court, Front Royal, following the service.
