Local Human Rights Committee seeks volunteers

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging is seeking individuals who are interested in serving as a volunteer on the Local Human Rights Committee (LHRC). Health Care Providers are encouraged to apply.

This Committee meets quarterly (January, April, July, and October) on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in Culpeper and is responsible for ensuring that individuals receiving mental health, mental retardation, and substance abuse services are being treated with dignity, are free from abuse or neglect, and that their basic rights are being protected.

Earth Day celebration

Rappahannock County 4H Performing Arts Club has chosen to sponsor and participate in clean up and beautification efforts at our county’s public park in Washington, VA.

The Earth Day Celebration Event is coordinating with the National and Global Youth Service Day America. The club will host activities and crafts for younger children and refreshments for all who attend including those who have run in the County’s annual Fodderstack 10K race. There will be a community pot luck dinner; drumming and dance in addition to the days ongoing clean up effort. Closing Ceremonies will be a presentation of the “New World Pledge” created by Living Sky. All are invited and encouraged to participate. Clean up efforts begin at 10 a.m. music, activities and pot luck 12-3, closing ceremonies at 4 p.m. Updates of the days events can be found at ysa.org (see local events).
