“The event has helped put Rappahannock County on the map as a true arts destination,” said RAAC President Claudia Mitchell. “Visitors get to view the works of the finest artists in the region, if not the country, and have the added bonus of traveling the scenic hollows, hills and back roads of our county in a treasure hunt linking the various galleries and open studios. The autumn time frame is ideal for showcasing the masterpiece that is our county.”
Of course, the 2006 event promises to be bigger and better! All the galleries are on board, and more artists, as many as 14 so far, are applying to have open studios. This year’s event is taking on a new direction. Instead of holding a “Group Show” at the Washington Fire Hall, the space will be used as a registration hub, and as a place for visitors to view more examples of the artwork offered at participating galleries and open studios.
