Have you noticed what Hopkins Ordinary did with the cottage behind the main building? It is a lovely rental cottage, perfect for families, for extended stays in Sperryville and they allow pets!
A Richmond family with children and a Hurricane Katrina rescue dog recently rented it for a month. This is a wonderful addition to the village center and will certainly encourage quality tourism.
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad has been faced with many challenges in recent years.
However, there is an energetic Board of Directors that has grappled with those issues. Drive by there and you will see new energy at the squad!
Under the leadership of Chief Josh Waddell, there is an expanding group of young people who are serving our community. Josh brings an expectation for excellence and expertise to the Rescue Squad.
It is very exciting to see the number of new volunteers growing and former volunteers returning.
Young adults need a role in our community and the rescue squad provides them with that opportunity. They learn life saving skills and make a tremendous difference in the lives of all of us.
The annual fundraiser, Miss Rappahannock, will be held on April 29 at the Rappahannock Elementary School.
Bob Ryan, the TV weather man, will be the master of ceremonies. This event is attended by 600 or more people.
Be sure to come and eat supper, have fun and support the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
