Creating rhythm
Music is also an integral facet of a Hearthstone student’s education. In first grade, students begin learning to play the recorder, which they keep in a bag they have knitted or sewn themselves. Younger students also participate in drumming classes, which assists in the development of physical coordination, teamwork and cooperation, and the rhythm of music. Starting in third grade, students begin traditional music classes, which continue through high school and include regular public performances both at school and in the greater community.
