I was recently asked to write the column for Sperryville and have agreed to do so twice a month.

I cannot do this without you!

Piedmont district is faced with the difficult task of finding someone to take the position of the irreplaceable Pete Estes on the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors.

Our county is facing development pressures on each of our borders. We need to continue the strong leadership of Sperryville on the Board.

This is an opportunity for all of us to become involved by informing ourselves of those who are offering themselves for this public service and signing their petitions;

One person will be chosen by the Board of Supervisors until a special election can be held in November. As far as I know, those currently circulating petitions are Dr. Monira Rifaat, Kim Estes Kilby and Tommy Taylor. Each of them brings unique experiences and perspectives to the position. Be sure to sign petitions!

The Sperryville Gateway Committee has completed the task of upgrading drainage and installation of sidewalks on Main Street.

In addition, the pedestrian bridge over the Thornton River is completed. The last remaining task for that grant
