Bag worms
and tent
caterpillars
As we welcome spring, we also begin to struggle with trying to manage pests in a safe way. Pine Phillips and Wendy Sirat gave me this little jewel of information today that I want to pass on to you. Bacteria Thuricide (bacillus thuringiensis) is a liquid cocktail that you can spray when those bag worms and tent caterpillars are feeding.
The bacteria give them a very bad stomach, and they quickly expire. There is no residue and may be applied until the day of harvest (tomato horn worms, beware!).
