Cause of the fire
Over the weekend, investigators tried to find the source of the fire but with no conclusive results. State Police Special Agent Wayne Sumner said that the fire probably began on the main level on the northeast side of the house. The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said noting that several electrical devices were running on the main level, including a laptop computer.
Sumner was reluctant to confirm the possibility that the fire was ignited by the laptop, noting that it was not a model that had been recalled for defective exploding batteries. “There is just too much fire damage to tell for sure,” he said, “well never be able to determine the actual cause.” An insurance investigator also examined the rubble to no avail. Sumner added that there was no signs of suspicious activity surrounding the blaze.
