Workmen from Precision Sports Surfaces were working at the track during the week of March 19. Supt. Bob Chappell asked them why they were there. They responded that they had been directed to clean (with leaf blower and pressure washer) the track to prepare for the final coat to be installed during the last week of March. Premier had not returned to the site by March 29. Supt. Bob Chappell emailed the company to implore them to finish the work April 2 and 3 when the weather was expected to be dry and warm. Premier was not on the site April 2 and 3.
Note: The RCPS wants the community to know that the track resurfacing company (Precision Sports Surfaces) is not to be confused with Premier Sports Fields run by County resident Bob Benyo. Mr. Benyo’s company worked for the Board of Supervisors to build a firstrate football-soccer field. Benyo’s company also did some preparatory work (excavation and subsurface gravel installation) for the track. Benyo also removed a number of trees and overhanging branches that the Precision rep asked him to remove. In addition to that, by August 20, 2006, the RCPS removed every single tree identified by a Precision Sports Surfaces rep as being a possible impediment to direct sunlight hitting the track. Lack of direct sunlight has been the common refrain given by Precision when asked why they have not completed the work.
