The Robey’s were especially grateful to the area fire companies who went above and beyond the call of duty to help the family. “Once the flames were extinguished, they were digging through the rubble and trying hard to find something to give back to us,” said Terry.
Art Smith of the Amissville Fire Company found the remains of an American Flag sweatshirt among the rubble. The fire had burned all of the sweatshirt, leaving the American flag untouched. “I thought that was pretty inspiring,” said Terry.
