Mike Biniek says his years living and working in Rappahannock County have been “the best, the happiest years of my life. Now I want to give something back ”
Biniek, 57, is talking about what prompted his decision several months back to run for the Board of Supervisors seat to be given up this fall by Piedmont District Supervisor Eddie Wayland.
The co-owner of Belle Meade, the FT. Valley Road bed & breakfast, farm, school and summer camp. Biniek is running against former Planning Commission chairman and Rappahannock Concerned Taxpayers cofounder Tom Junk.
Though he s not a member of Junk's organization. Biniek says he would describe himself as a concerned taxpayer just the same, only without the capital letters.
“I don't think a blanket, cut-taxes approach is a solution to anything." he says. You need to look at the budget and see where and how you get the most for your buck.
“I'm not interested in raising taxes But I am interested in maintaining the quality of life, both for the community . . and in our schools, which 1 believe are extremely important - the future of our county is with our children."
