antique hutch and sideboard, which were in the house originally. The hutch top came from Pine Forest, the home of Henry’s grandmother near Fredericksburg. The adjoining kitchen was reconfigured during the 2003 addition, by Debbie Burke, a kitchen designer in Warrenton.
Oldest addition
The oldest addition, completed in 2001, added the master bedroom suite, a guest room and an indoor pool room. The pool room has floor to ceiling windows on two sides, and these draw the outdoors inside.
Original watercolors by Nancy, and old family portraits enliven the master bedroom. A blanket chest and dresser are from Uncle Joe Keyser’s home on Pleasant View Farm, just across the road.
The guest room has old racing and hunting prints by British painter Sir Alfred Munnings and a spacious cherry comer cupboard is bursting with old blue and white china. Grandfather Henry’s old stag horn and hunting boots under the window are further reminders of Rappahannock, as well as family and histoiy.
