While the Town of Culpeper is preparing to celebrate their 250th anniversary, neighboring Fauquier County is also celebrating a 250th birthday. To commemorate that event, members of Company H of the 4th Virginia Cavalry Regiment will ride again.
Bedecked as Confederates or, in some cases, as an ambushing Federal contingent, members will begin their ride on Thursday, September 24, near Brandy Station in Culpeper unloading their equipment, weapons and horses and camping overnight. On Friday, they will make their way to Whitney State Forest near Warrenton where they will stop for dinner and the night. On Saturday, September 26, the ride will continue into Warrenton where they will participate in the WarrentonFauquier County Heritage Day parade.
With over 100 riders, some coming from as far away as California, its going to take a lot of feed to keep those horses happy. That’s where local CFC Farm and Home Center manager Ed Dunphy enters the scene.
Dunphy was happy to donate 1,200 lbs. ofPace Maker brand horse feed to the cavalry unit to help fuel their ride across Fauquier County. Pace
