A nucleus group of artists that included Lois, Jeanne Drevas, Nancy Kevser, Robert Ballard, along with Claudia. Linda, Sallie and Joanne Hilty met at the Ballard’s dining room table and began to layout the tour. The group met for over a year, getting more and more RAAC members involved with the planning.

A logo was created by local designer Jane Wilson and her son. Luke, that has become the recognizable brand for the tour. Finally, on Nov. 4 and 5. 2005, the first Artists of Rappahannock Studio & Gallery Tour was held, drawing over 1,000 people from around the region to the county

The tour they created m 2005 has become one of the most successful events in the Piedmont region. In fact, the readers of Piedmont Virginian magazine recently endorsed its popularity by voting the Artists Tour officially as one of the top events in the Piedmont.
