As part of the Sperryville beautification project, VDOT workers sprayed wildflower seeds mixed with water on the bank near the turn lane at Shaw's Garage. About 30 to 40 pounds of seed were sprayed on the bank. Bill Watson from V DOT says that some plants may bloom next spring, but that full bloom is probably two years away. If everything goes ideally, it will be the second spring before we see full bloom, ' said Watson.
Washington Mayor Stu Willis proposed to convene a special meeting on Sept. 29 to air Peter Kramer's appeal of the ARB s Mercantile Building/Clopton House decision. In a letter to County Administrator John McCarthy on Aug. 31, Kramer appealed the decision of Aug. 12 and Aug. 27 by the Washington Architectural Review Board for Historic Resources that approved the demolition of historic buildings and interesting architectural treatments to historic structures located on the Kramer property and Clopton House."
Ashleigh Burke, Rachel Sharp and Brittany Thornhill of Rappahannock County were members of the Culpeper softball team that won the Virginia state junior softball and southeastern regional championship this summer.
