TOGETHER, we can accomplish anything

For a manager, it’s one thing to gain the respect of the staff in your own department. It’s another thing to gain the respect of the staff in other departments. As the director of surgical services, Christie Shaw oversees the daily operations of the operating room, recovery room, pre-admission testing, and prep and hold. She also listens, guides, supports,, inspires, enables, and promotes camaraderie throughout the health system.

“My work motto is: Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don’t say it mean," Christie says. “Whatever the issue, we can handle it together. And we can always achieve a positive outcome as long as both sides are receptive to the same goal."

Christie started here six years ago as an OR nurse, and is grateful for the opportunities the hospital has provided along the way.

“I’m proud of how far I have come with this organization, and I love my job," she says. “The atmosphere and culture brought on by the Planetree patient-centered philosophy is a complement to our health system’s core values. That's what makes this the best place 1 have ever worked.”
