The Benevolent Fund is an emergency-aid fund that makes grants to Rappahannock citizens to buy food, medicines, pay heating bills, or make emergency home repairs or for other necessities including those which might assist a cancer patient.
It has been funded by grants to the fund and is governed by a five-person board consisting of Rev. Jennings Hobson III of Trinity Church; Rev. Philip Bailey of Washington Baptist Church; Rev. Jon Heddleston of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church', Sharon Pyne, of the Rappahannock County Social Services Department; and Sperryville resident Doug Schiffman.
All of the funds given the Benevolent Fund are used for the fund. There are no overhead costs. Administrative costs are donated by the churches and individuals involved.
