Cutover areas, and areas with a-'heavy sod or brush cover will require some sort of treatment to clear the area prior to planting. Christmas trees and hardwood plantings require special care (pruning, shearing, and-or mowing around the trees). Therefore, if you are considering planting trees for any of these situations, it would be best to request a planting site examination.
Plantings for erosion control and timber production will often qualify for state or federal government cost-sharing, which will reimburse 50 per cent (sometimes more or less) of the planting costs.
Due to our large backlog of planting site preparation and other work, we will not be able to take care of planting site examination requests right away. So make your request early! Seedling supplies will be limited later in the planting season.
