This interpretation meant that land for Shenandoah National Park acquired by the state for transfer to U.S. ownership was not eligible for “in lieu” payments.
Robinson co-sponsored a bill to correct the oversight. Already signed by President Carter, the bill confers eligibility for “in lieu” payments on all of Shenandoah Park within Rappahannock’s borders. In any gathering of ten people or more, there’s usually ong person who’s been helped by the Congressman’and his staff. Or, at the very least, someone in the group knows someone else who’s received assistance. It is on this basis that the Rappahannock News endorses J. Kenneth Robinson in his bid for a six consecutive term in the House of Representatives.
