The Rappahannock County Library will begin its winter schedule of entertainment on Friday, November 17, with a program on birds of Virginia and other wildlife presented by noted photographer and naturalist John Trott.
John Trott began photographing birds as a teenager in central North Carolina. His interest in capturing wildlife on film came a few years after he discovered birds, and he was determined to know all “there was to know” about
Mrs. Thurmon Whorton and children, Misses Norma, Beverly and Donna Whorton, were hostesses for a birthday celebration in honor of Mr. Whorton on October 21 at Hint Hill fire hall.
Mr. Whorton received a pleasant surprise when his daughter, Mrs. Joann Martinez of Sante Fe, N.M. arrived for the dinner.
Others present included Mr. Whorton’s father, Clarence Whorton of Washington, and his sister, Mrs. Lila Hawkins of Centerville; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Huff and Miss Connie Huff, Mrs. Elsie Campbell. Kenny Pullen, Frankie Huff, Miss Ellen Mustoe, and Tessa Pricer, all of Flint Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leake of Woodville; Ms. Jackie Rife of Alexandria; Manley Bruce, Sperryville; A. K. Davis, Washington; Mrs. Carolyn Kinsey and son, Mrs. Isabell Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Boies, all of Front Royal.
Shooting Match
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its first shooting match of the season on Friday, November 3, at 7:30 p.m. on the carnival grounds. Prizes will be given away with proceeds going to the Department.
