Special sensors will determine when oxygen levels within the lagoon are down and will then automatically activate air bubble release pipes.
After aeration, the effluent will be further treated with chlorine before discharge into the Thornton. Theoretically, the final product should be pure enough to drink.
Because the five acre lagoon site is in a flood plain, the lagoon will not be excavated. Instead, it will be built up with a dike to protect the system from flooding. The site will also be fenced and screened from view.
Col. Biddle noted that the approved facilities plan—a massive volume at least two inches thick—included studies on soil and groundwater, federal and state waste treatment regulations, environmental and historical aspects of the treatment site and geological testing.
“We’re working closely with the State Water Control Board (on the sewage treatment project) and everything we’ve done has been approved by them,’’ Biddle concluded.

Wakefield Country Day School's new Primary Wing will be dedicated on Monday evening, November 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The new building contains classrooms for the school’s Pre-School, Kindergarten, Grade One, and Grade Two, an assembly room for the Primary School, a Music and Band room, and a kitchen.
The dedication will be followed by an Open House ind Book Fair.
