To the editor:
I read with interest the editorial in the issue of Thursday, October 19, 1978, concerning the bill I have introduced (H. R. 14225) proposing to freeze the authorized boundaries of Shenandoah National Park at their existing boundaries.
The editorial indicated an understanding that such a bill would not address the matter of trades of park land for land presently in private hands.
I submit that my bill would forestall any such trade. The bill states, in part, "that the authorized area of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia shall consist only of those lands, comprising approximately 194,000 acres, to which title is vested in the United States in fee simple of the date of enactment of this Act +++”.
