John McCullough Humphries of Flint Hill and Alexandria was graduated in May from East Carolina University in Greenville, N. C., with a Master of Arts degree in Political Science. fcHe had received his Bachelor’s degree in this major in 1968 from Wake Forest University in WinstonSalem, N. C. Humphries formerly lived in Front Royal and attended and graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy in 1964.

After Wake Forest he entered the U. S. Army as an infantry officer and served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N. C., as an instructor at the Infantry School in Fort Benning, Ga., and in the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg.

Humphries spent one year in Vietnam as a Company Commander in the 4th Infantry Division and then as an adivsor to the 2nd Vietnamese Ranger Group. He left the service in 1975 after a total of seven years.

Humphries is presently office manager for Senator Robert Morgan, the junior Senator from North Carolina, in his Washington office and is responsible for all of the administrative support in the office, the office budget personnel, etc.

He is married to the former Jill Rodgers of Flint Hill where they maintain legal residence and own property.
