Elects Officers
An enthusiastic group of both old and new members attended the annual meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society June 26 at their building on Gay Street in Washington.
New officers were elected as follows: President, James DeBergh Jr.: Vice Pres., J. W. Fletcher Jr.; Secretary, Mary Russell Miller; Treasurer, Margaret Baumgardner. A unanimous vote of thanks was given to out-going President, Virginia Lindstrom, for her untiring and successful efforts in restoring an old building to the Society’s use. The first floor of the building has been named in her honor.
Several new committees were formed including one to landscape and improve the grounds, and others which will be an effort to preserve historical landmarks and projects to be of benefit to both the Society and the entire county.
New members are welcome and are urged to contact any of the above named for information. Membership is $5.00 a couple, single adult, $3.00 and children $1.00.
