Program Set
‘‘Introduction to American Literature" will be the topic of this year’s summer adult reading program, sponsored by the Rappahannock County Library.
Brady Corrothers, retired English teacher from Fairfax County High School, will again lead the six hour-long sessions to be held Tuesdays from 10 a.m. until 11. beginning July 17.
Selections scheduled for group discussion include "Essays of Emerson" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, "Benito Cereno” by Herman Melville. "The American" by Henry James, "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald and "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway.
Deadline to sign up for the summer program is July 9. Interested persons may stop by the library or call at 6753780. A fee of $20 will be charged to cover the cost of books, available at the library on July 10.
Those planning to participate should finish Emerson’s essays “Divinity School” and "Self Reliance" before the first session on July 17. For further information, contact the Rappahannock County Library.
