day: the President’s wife came to visit them, dressed in high heels and white gloves, and appeared to be somewhat distant and aloof. Then, all of a sudden, as she was preparing to go, a small child piped up from the front of the crowd, “What did you bring us?” At that point, the First Lady smiled a broad grin, took off her long, white gloves, and asked for the gifts that were to be given to the children. She started to hand them out herself, and the photograph shows her, in a thrpng of children,•iahghingi and with her hands full of candy and lollipops.
Another group of photographs shows Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon visiting a home for handicapped children. It was Keesey’s job to coordinate the security and timing rjr the visit, and he says that it was far from easy to manage the numerous facets of the tour.
Keesey’s life has been one filled with a great assortment of jobs and interests, and he is obviously very proud of the work that he has done. And the fact that he has involved himself so deeply in the affairs of Rappahannock County, and with such success, is evidence of his great ability in his field. Perhaps it was better that he didn’t decide to pursue work in the Foreign Office. If he had, he could have become an Ambassador to Guadeloupe, or Afganistan, and the Rappahannock Farmer’s Market might never have gotten off the ground.
