publicly nominated: incumbent Arthlinda Quaintance, Henry Hudson and Eldred. The Trustees, after a brief caucus, recessed Thursday’s session “to give full consideration to all the candidates presented tonight.”
At the opening of Monday’s reconvened meeting. Trustee Chairman C. E. Johnson acknowledged that the three-member board had met previously and reached its decision on the appointments.
“We’ve really met,” agreed Trustee Christine Johnston.
Before reporting the Trustee’s decision, Johnson announced that they had agreed to limit school board members to three consecutive terms. He added that the representative from Wakefield District would be appointed for just two years in order to stagger terms and reduce the number of vacancies occurring at one time.
According to Johnson, Robert W. Eastham was chosen by unanimous vote with Trustee Granville Eastham abstaining. (Granville Eastham is the brother of Robert Eastham.)
