Youth for Understanding believes that international understanding will be achieved through individuals. Each time someone involved with the Youth for Understanding program experiences firsthand the values and attitudes of another society, peace and understanding among nations is advanced another step.
Exchange programs have proven time and again to be enriching experiences for communities, local schools, civic organizations and citizens. Since 1972, the number of American year host families has doubled; nearly 30 per cent of this year’s current families are repeaters, some hosting their tenth student.
