Rappahannock News Staff Writer The Rappahannock School Board members received copies of the proposed drug policy for Rappahannock schools at their September 11 meeting but with the exception of points of clarification there was little discussion.
“This is a controversial, complicated and emotional issue,” stated board member Robert Eastham, suggesting that any debate be postponed until the October meeting when the policy is scheduled to be adopted.
He added later, however, that he was putting the rest of the board on notice of his intention to “bitterly oppose” the wording of a sentence in policy but hadn’t seen the final document with all the suggestions that came in.
Chairman Beverly Massie instructed that copies of the proposed policy be made available to principals and teachers at both schools with suggested changes or comments relayed to Superintendent William Bloomer in seven days.
