In response to prodding from Robert Eastham, the Rappahannock School Board took a first small step at its September 11 meeting toward implementing a special program for the county’s gifted and talented students.
When the board returned to open session at 12:30 a.m. after nearly two hours in executive meeting for personnel and student discipline, Eastham introduced a resolution calling for superintendent William Bloomer to have a plan for a gifted and talented program ready by the October school board meeting.

As a community service, the Rappahannock County Women’s Club will sponsor a political forum at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, at the Flint Hill fire hall.
All candidates seeking political office in the county have been invited to give a three minute presentation to be followed by open discussion and questions from the audience.
Ray Scherer, vice president of RCA and former White House correspondent for the NBC network, who is a Rappahannock resident, will host the discussion.
Every county voter is urged and welcomed to attend.
