A student found possessing, using or distributing drugs or alcohol for the first time will receive an automatic two week suspension for school board action with reinstatement after completion of a drug or alcohol seminar.
If the students fails to complete the seminar, then the suspension is extended for two additional weeks. The proposed policy calls for a conference with the parents during the first two weeks of the suspension.
For a second or flagrant offense, students may be expelled from school under the proposed policy.
