Inspection of school-owned property for alcohol and drugs may be undertaken by
the ^principal, his designee or law enforcement personnel if there is reason to believe that an individual is involved with drugs or alcohol. Desks and lockers as well as a student’s person, vehicle and clothing may be checked under the proposed policy.
No searches are to be undertaken except in the presence of a witness. If law enforcement personnel are called in, school employees are not to take part in the investigation unless requested to do so.
The proposed policy states that students under the influence of alcohol or drugs are to receive medical attention if their condition warrants. In addition, parents are to be notified of any drug incidents as soon as possible.
