“I would be so grateful if you would say yes,’’ Fr. Maurice DuCastillon told the BZA in behalf of a special use permit application to run a family counseling center and retreat house just outside the town of Washington.
James L. Bain told the BZA that the Catholic church had leased the Skoronski family home for two years with an option on a third in order to operate a weekend counseling center.
The center, Bethany House, will serve families from all over northern Virginia, a maximum of five at a time.
Bethany House, explained Bain, will offer families the opportunity to get out of their current environment and spend time with each other in a Christian community.
“It’s not a rowdy kind of program (but) time for families to be together in quiet,” he explained. The retreat center is designed to serve the whole family unit—married families only, Bain added.
Participants will arrive on Friday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon with the total program except for three free hours on Saturday taking place in the house and
