“If things had continued this year as they started out, we would have filled all our positions by the June board meeting,” Bloomer responded. “We filled 20 vacancies by the June meeting. Then we spent three months filling the remaining five (openings) and we’re still looking for one.”
The superintendent added that the supervisors would have to give early approval to any new teaching positions as well as the proposed salary scale in order for vacancies to be filled by Eastham’s suggested August deadline.
"We did not receive approval on two new teaching positions at the high school until a late date. One of those was the position we didn’t fill until tonight,” he said.
