NAEP found that students doing the most math homework performed best in math achievement tests.
Parents can help with homework in several simple ways;
Provide your children with an adequate place to study: good lighting, a comfortable chair and few distractions.
Make sure your children have a specific time each day for homework and that they start early enough to finish the work.
Help out by calling out spelling words and multiplication tables.
Suggest sources of information for a paper.
Don’t actually “do” the homework though—that defeats its purpose.
But ask to see it sometimes and ask questions or make comments on it. Just your expression of interest will make your child want to do a better job.
