Special M riter On Friday, Sept. 7, the .ast Minute Wood Company f Rappahannock performed or the senior citizens who ome to the Nutrition Site at he Hampton Inn. The >erformance tied together deas that the seniors have >een exploring with me in a reative arts program for the ast year in a new nedium—dance-drama. They were very familiar vith two members of the :ompany, Nan Reddick, who irove the van for the site and s now a full time staff person it the Area Agency on Aging; and Kathy Kiley, a CETA worker who is conducting an yral history project with the seniors. Jeanne Drevas. mother company members, tad donated clay to our arts program, along with her time n firing the pots that we nade. The audiengOs-met the ther company memb rs — Sally Nash, chu. -ographer and director of the company; Su&en Estrenga. who works for the Culpeper News, and Maurine Day, a native of Rappahannock.
The dance performance was broken down in two parts. The first section consisted of an improvisational exercise based on a dream from someone in the audience. This demonstrated the process by which the second part, a thoroughly practiced and beautifully crafted dancedrama called “Seven Dreams and an Awakening," was derived. "Seven Dreams” is based on the dreams of Sally Nash.
