“Do you know where Washington himself, danced in Washington?” “Do you know about a sensational murder trial held in Rappahannock courthouse in 1859?”
These and other interesting items will be part of a guided walking tour on Saturday, September 22 in the town of Washington. The tour, sponsored by the Rappahannock Historical Society will be held at one, three, and five o’clock in the afternoon.
The price is $1.50.
Kathy Kiley, Helen Holschuh, and Virginia Miller Lindstrom have been working since early June searching old newspaper and various other records, and interviewing long-time residents to come up with an entertaining patter about many of the homes and businesses in the town.
They were struck with the fact that many of the buildftigs had been moved from one place to another, that several locations are indicated for old Post Offices, and that restaurants seemed to have been as numerous as fast food places are in some towns today.
Come in and enjoy a fun hour as you walk around your county seat.
